I had the pleasure of attending the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living Spring Gathering breakfast this morning. Over 300 guests gathered at Kensington Court in Ann Arbor to learn more about the Ann Arbor CIL, a local community enrichment, learning and advocacy center focusing on improving the lives of individuals with disabilities throughout southeast Michigan.

Ben Case, a recipient of the Ann Arbor CIL’s John Weir scholarship, and Maurice Jordan, a United States Army veteran, provided testimonials on how the CIL has transformed their lives.
A powerful video, played at this morning’s breakfast, illustrated in great detail the mission of the Ann Arbor CIL and what they accomplished this past year.

Thank you to Stephanie Stiles, the Ann Arbor CIL staff, and the volunteers for everything they do for the Ann Arbor community!
Named one of America’s Greatest Main Streets by Travel + Leisure Magazine, there are many reasons why Ann Arbor’s Main Street made the list. Below are 7 things I love about Main Street:
- The Big House
On the corner of South Main Street and Stadium Boulevard, The Big House is a classic Ann Arbor landmark. The University of Michigan Stadium, the largest stadium in the United States with an official capacity of 109,901, is my absolute favorite place in Ann Arbor. Nothing compares to cheering on the Wolverines, surrounded by over 100,000 screaming fans, on football Saturday!
- Mainstreet Ventures
Known for developing distinctive upscale restaurants, Mainstreet Ventures operates restaurants in Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Maryland and West Virginia, with their largest presence on Main Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Palio, Gratzi, The Chop House, Real Seafood Company and La Dolce Vita, operated by Mainstreet Ventures, provide delicious meals and an exceptional dining experiences.
- University of Michigan Apparel
In a college town, there are several places to buy all of your game day gear. My two favorite stores, M Den and Underground Printing, are both on Main Street. Underground Printing has several creative t-shirts for reasonable prices, while M Den offers a wide selection of University of Michigan apparel and memorabilia.
- Marnee Thai
Across the street from the Detroit Edison Building, Marnee Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor. The drunken noodle is delicious, the service is extraordinary and the prices are affordable.
- Jolly Pumpkin
A local microbrewery, Jolly Pumpkin has a fun atmosphere, great menu and two bars to accommodate thirsty patrons.

- Architecture
The buildings lining Main Street are both unique and gorgeous! One of my favorites is the First National Bank Building on the corner of Main Street and Washington.
- Art Galleries
Ann Arbor’s vibrant local culture is what makes the city both diverse and unique. WSG Gallery, Selo/Shevel Gallery and Clay Gallery are all on Main Street.
What do you love most about Main Street?
